For the next week or two we want to highlight some of the equipment we use in the office. We’re going to go over why we choose to have it, what it does,
and how it helps us take care of you and everyone you know!
Today we are going to go over the roller tables (which we know you all love).
The technical name for the roller tables is actually Inter-Segmental Traction tables.
This names comes from the fact that it provides traction between vertebral segments in the spine. This allows us to warm up, stretch, and exercise the spine before we make our spinal adjustments.
What does the IST table do?
The table does its job by rolling up and down the spine. An internal mechanism applies an upward
pressure that creates movement in the joints of the spine. This force is applied throughout the
middle and lower portions of the spine called the thoracic and lumbar areas.
The internal mechanism automatically goes through a certain number of rotations that preps you
for your adjustment with one of our doctors!
What are the benefits?
- Some of the benefits of IST include:
- Relief from back pain
- Improvement in spinal range of motion
- Relaxation of muscles and
- ligaments around the spine
- Enhanced blood circulation in the affected area
- Removal of toxins from the muscles
- Improved stability of the spine
- Faster healing and recovery
- from back injuries
- Increased function of spinal joints
- Reduction in swelling
We use IST as a standard part of the awesome experience that is every visit here at Topsail Chiropractic! We use it ourselves regularly before we get our chiropractic adjustments. We want to stay in top shape so that we can continue to take care of all of you!
