How does chiropractic work?
The short answer is that chiropractic care is about the nervous system. It’s about making sure that the spine is functioning correctly and not putting additional pressure or strain on the nervous system.

The brain sits at the top of the spine. Its job is to send electrical signals, down the spinal cord and out the nerves, and those nerves go to everywhere in the body. The nerves pass through holes called intervertebral foramen.
These holes are created by two vertebrae coming together. This is where problems can occur. The vertebrae shift, move, and buckle from normal everyday activities, let alone injures. When this movement occurs, there begins to be pressure or inflammation on the nerves.
When there is pressure or inflammation on the nerves, the nerves themselves, and the organs they go to don’t function as well. This is really what chiropractic care is about. Making sure that the vertebrae are sitting the way that they should, so that the nervous system can function at 100%, so our organs are functioning at 100%. How much of that nerve power do you want going to your organs? 100%, right!?
Subluxations:
Chiropractors make adjustments to the spine where there are subluxations. What are subluxations? That is the word that we use to explain that the vertebrae have shifted or moved. Sub means less and lux means energy or light. When we put it together, it means that a vertebra has shifted causing there to be less energy going to that part of the body.

Chiropractors perform careful examinations to find where the spine needs adjustments. A lot of times, people will have pain in those areas as well, like neck or back pain. That pain is just a sign that there is something wrong with the
vertebrae. That’s just how the body works! Pain can be a great motivator to get your spine checked, but remember, pain is one of the last signs to show up, and it’s one of the first things to go as the spine is healing. We love that we patients with their pain, but there is can help usually a lot of work to still be done, even after the pain is gone.
As we focus on adjusting the spine, and allowing the nervous system to heal, we see so many benefits of chiropractic. Yes, there is less pain, but also you can have better sleep, more mobility, more energy, and so much more.
So, the goal of chiropractic care is clear. We want to make sure we check and make adjustments to all the vertebra in the spine that need it. This way all the power from the brain can get to the rest of the body, and the information in the rest of the body can get back up to the brain.
There are a lot of people, of all ages, who are hurting, and can benefit from chiropractic care. We want to help as many people as possible, so tell them to come in and get their spines checked, they will really thank you for it. Let them
know if they mention they know you, we will be happy to do this free of charge. It feels great to see people’s lives change for the better!
